Confessions: This is Amazing Grace

This song by Phil Wickham really struck me this week in church... 

Who breaks the power of sin and darkness?

Who's love is mighty and so much stronger?

The King of Glory, the King above all kings. 

Who shakes the whole earth with holy thunder?

And leaves us breathless in awe and wonder?

I have unlimited access to all the strength I could possibly need to overcome sin all day, every day. And not just any strength, supernatural strength. And I don't even need to ask for it! I just need to accept it!

The Creator and King has given me access to the power over sin and darkness I face every day.

But you know what is even more amazing than that? This part...

This is amazing grace.

This is unfailing love.

That You would take my place

That You would bear my cross.

You lay down Your life

That I would be set free.

Oh, Jesus, I sing for

All that You've done for me.

He took my place.

And here I am sinning every day like He didn't get tortured and die so I could be free of it.

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain.

Worthy is the King who conquered the grave.

Overcoming sin is hard. It's so easy to find an excuse or two (or ten) to keep eating, choose the junk food, cheat on the calorie tracking, take just one more day off of working out...

But the Lamb who was slain in my place is worthy, worthy worthy.

"...fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones." Proverbs 3:7b-8
