Hours of Operation (+ a pronunciation lesson)

Everyone seems to have trouble pronouncing DandLs DangLs. And I know that can be annoying. So the husband recorded himself pronouncing it correctly. Click the link, listen and learn...

http://db.tt/ZaGx3bA

Now you know :)

It's long past time to set hours for DandLs DangLs. Obviously being a stay-at-home mom, these hours will be incredibly flexible. But they will also help me decide when to work on jewelry or clean house or play with the babies or... and not feel guilty about my decision!

Monday: Closed
Tuesday: Post Office run, 9-11pm
Wednesday: 1-3pm, 9-11pm
Thursday: Closed
Friday: 1-3pm
Saturday: 10-11:30am, 1-3pm
Sunday: Closed

I will be checking my email daily and will do some marketing outside of the hours. The hours will mostly be spent creating, taking pictures, and listing.

So you can easily get ahold of me just about any time.

Except for maybe during my working hours as I'll be busy working... :)

Baby Girl Drops

Revision: I cannot officially sell these as children's jewelry. The regulations are way too high for me to ever be able to afford. So I'm going to sell them simply as "Drops." Use them for your children at your own discretion! Otherwise these are excellent jewelry for ladies or girls (over the age of 12!) who prefer small and simple jewelry!

So in short, there will be no "Baby Girl Line." :( But my Baby Girl will still be wearing adorable drops :)

My daughter always gets all sorts of compliments on her earrings. It's an excellent opportunity to pass out a business card! But I've realized that I don't really have much for little girls. I finally set out to change that.

Introducing the Baby Girl Line.

So far I have a small handful of options:

One of the greatest things about these is I can make them in just about any color you desire! Plenty of options to match all your baby girl's adorable outfits.

Another greatest things about these is they're only $4 each!

But the very greatest thing of all? I get to take more pics of my Baby Girl. She makes me forget about my horrible photography skills :)

Love her.

I will be adding more Baby Girl jewelry soon!

**Disclaimer: Baby Girl Jewelry is not recommended for children under the age of 3 as it can pose as a choking hazard.

Inspiration Workshop Week #1

So Gussy Sews is one of my fave blogs. Not only does she make gorgeous bags of all types, and write fun and interesting blog posts, she also never ceases to inspire me!

She's started a link party that I had to join in on! This week's prompt:

"This week's prompt, in true Gussy fashion, is everything HANDMADE. A great way to kick off the Gussy Sews Inspiration Workshop!, right?!  Do you have a favorite blanket that your grandmother knitted for you? Does your child play with a HANDMADE toy? What about that construction paper and macaroni creation on your refrigerator? What do you make or want to make?"

Just about everything handmade inspires me!

Like the other night I was wandering through Michaels ("A dangerous past time.""I know." Name that movie). I got all sorts of butterflies in my belly! I wanted to create everything in sight!

Or just now I was folding Marie's pajama pants and was filled with the desire to make her a pair myself!

You know, something like this:
Polka Dot Ruffle Pants...Sizes...6m,12m, 18m, 2T, 3T, 4T, 5T, 6
Found HERE
Or maybe I'll whip up something like this:
Noodles and Milk Sewing Pattern -Tutorial PDF DIY -Kinley Lounge Pants-Sizes 6mo to 5t
Found HERE
I guess I should probably learn how to sew first...

Anyway, I'm also inspired when I finish a big jewelry project. I spent hours working on these sets for a wedding:

And as soon as I was finished, I wanted to spend hours making more!

((I don't think the hubby would have been thrilled.))

What handmade sumthin' inspires you??

Introducing...

Finally adding a whole new type of jewelry to the DandLs DangLs shop! I'm SO excited!!!

Meet the Sweetest Crystals WATCH!

The sis-in-law and I were like kids in a candy store when we walked into this little bead shop in Shipshewana. Walls and walls of beautiful, sparkly, colorful happiness!

Then we spotted them: watch heads! Steph had suggested this before, but now the option was directly in front of us and we went in search of just the right beads to match.

Thus begins the new line of watches!

Check out these gorgeous rondells...

Love the toggle clasp.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this watch is SOLD as I type this up, but maybe these pics will whet your appetite for the new line!

Keep an eye out for more of this beautifulness! Super easy way to do that is to become a fan on Facebook and/or follow on Twitter!

Also, don't miss out on a great giveaway going on HERE!

Over and out.

A Purple Fairytale

It's been over three years since we found out that the little Goober growing inside of me was a sweet baby girl.

Oh how I adore that Sweet Baby Girl.

Once we found out for sure (I already had the mother's intuition thing going on but it was nice to have it confirmed!), I found myself drawn to the color purple. It was a favorite color when I was little. Maybe it's because it is the color of royalty, I don't know, but I associate it with princesses in fairytales.

Then I find out I'm having my own princess and suddenly I'm seeing purple everywhere!

Now I have my Marie Love and purple is not her color! She's still my princess, but a good solid pink mixed with Adidas stripes is much more her thing.

I'm okay. I'm over it.

But when I created these earrings, it brought me back to those early days. And they remind me that I am so blessed to have my very own princess.

Find them HERE

Gardens

This year (as I mentioned here) we're attempting a vegetable garden.
  • Potatoes
  • Onions
  • Peppers
  • Corn
  • Beans
Honestly, I'm very nervous about this endeavor. Call me Mrs. Brown Thumb. And besides that, will I be disciplined enough to keep up with it?

I hope so, because I'm very excited to eat veggies from my very own garden! I love the idea of growing my own food! (I also want to learn to sew and improve on my crocheting! One thing at a time).

We'll see how it all goes. God's the one who actually does the growing so we're in it together. I'll keep ya updated.

Meanwhile, check out this bracelet...

I love it because it's like wearing a garden on your wrist and it requires absolutely NO maintenance! That's my kind of garden. It's called "Flower Garden Bracelet" because the green beads are speckled with flowers. I'm much more concerned about growing veggies than flowers. Again, one thing at a time! So this bracelet fills any kind of flower garden hole in my life.

Even if you're not into gardening (like me last spring... and every spring before that), this bracelet will welcome in the springtime which brings a smile to every face!

Love on spring. Buy the hand-formed Flower Garden Bracelet here for $10.

Dainty Rings

My birthday month is almost over *sad face*. But as I always like to extend my birthday for as long as humanly possible (all year long??) I'm going to continue giving these dainty rings away with every purchase until I'm tired of making them. That could be a long time! Or not. I'll let ya know when I know.

So head over to my website and purchase anything your little heart desires and get a happy birthday gift.

(You choose the color - blue, green, silver, copper - and the size)

Do you ever wonder why we celebrate birthdays the way we do? Why do we block out one day every year to honor ourselves for something we had absolutely nothing to do with?

I don't remember jumping up and down and saying, "Pick me! Pick me!" and God finally picking me to be born into this sin-soaked world. Do you?

I am very glad that we celebrate birthdays, don't get me wrong. I just wonder if it makes Jesus a little sad that we play up our own birthdays so much, but often forget all about Him on His "birthday." Just a thought.

{Oh and just so you know, become a fan over on facebook and you'll be entered into the 300 fans giveaway!}

I am a woman

and as a woman I have the right to change my mind... again.

I don't like the idea of combining this blog with my jewelry blog. It just doesn't make sense.

So head over to my new DandLs DangLs blog to keep up with contests and giveaways, tutorials and tips. You'll love it there! :)

Also a prayer request...
The people selling the house that we LOVE decided they were willing to accept our offer! Please pray that -

- the loan goes through quickly
- the house passes all inspections (the sellers condition was that we buy it as is)
- our landlords will be willing to return our deposit even though we will be breaking our lease
- all the little details fall into place
- we will continually be sensitive to God's desires.

Thank you!!

How it all began...

Most of you probably know that I have my own little jewelry business. I LOVE to make jewelry! I've recently decided to use this blog to post some jewelry-making tutorials and contests, etc. Don't worry, if you're not all that into jewelry, there will still be plenty of posts about my exciting life outside of jewelry. :)

It's probably important that my first jewelry post be a little bit about how I got into this jewelry-making thing.

I'm not one of those types that was drawing jewelry designs at 5 years old, or always had just the right necklace for every single outfit, or went to any kind of art school. I've always liked wearing jewelry (especially earrings), but I usually had my small handful of favorite pieces that I wore ALL the time.

After Derek and I got married I felt like I needed to grow up a little. Every once in awhile I was going to need to wear something other than jeans and a tshirt with very old silver hoops in my ears every day. I went shopping with my mom-in-law and got a couple dressy outfits that just needed fancy jewelry to compliment. I managed to convince my husband that I needed a set of jewelry for both outfits. (He seriously has a hard time saying no to me). I thought the beaded jewelry I bought was so fantastic that every day I found myself wishing I had some cool jewelry to wear even with my casual clothes. Of course our budget did not support this in the least, so I continued to sport the little silver hoops on a regular basis.

Derek's grandma was visiting and she and I were chatting... I honestly can't think of what the initial point of our conversation was, but she told me about a lady at her church who got simple supplies from a craft store and had a bunch of ladies over from church to make jewelry. She said it was so easy. I was immediately interested and began researching...

Go ahead, google "how to make jewelry" and see if it doesn't stress you out a little.

Not only is there TONS of info out there, there's TONS of different ways to make jewelry! The tools and supplies necessary seemed endless. And so many terms had me wondering if there was some sort of jewelry-making dictionary I could refer to. Typical me, I decided to give up on the idea. But not before I mentioned it to my sister and sis-in-law.

Christmas that year (2007), my sisters combined efforts and got me a little starter kit! And the best part, my sister's friend makes jewelry and agreed to teach me some basics! I honestly don't think I would be doing this right now if it weren't for Jen, Steph, and Candace. Thank you.

Ever since I've been stocking up on beads, studying and learning new techniques, and selling my creations online and to friends and family. Sometimes I like to look at old beading books I got in the beginning and look at the designs I thought were way too hard for me to ever create, that now are part of my regular repetoir. I love teaching myself and whipping out pieces that make my husband proud :)

I'm currently venturing into the world of wire jewelry. My sister-in-law is helping me by designing beaded jewelry while I focus on learning the new and more difficult techniques of wirework. Steph is so good at designing! I love that she enjoys creating with me!

One of Steph's designs - Crystal Ball Dangles. Love these!

One of my fave wire wrapped creations - Forever Pearls Ring.

So that's the background. In the near future I'm going to post about some basic tools needed for making simple beaded jewelry. Then an earring tutorial! Until then, enjoy shopping :)
